Railway recruitment is categorized into publication (Groups A and B) and non- publication (Groups C and D) employees, where Group A staffs is the position for Union Public Service Commission, Group B staffs for depot material superintendents and IR Group C and D staffs has 21 positions in railway boards and cells, controlled by the Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB). There are six consolidated training institutes of all sets, where RRB NTPC (Railway Recruitment Board Non-Technical) conducts exam for low-level position by IR recruitment for about 18,000 positions in 2016 and then reduced it to 4,000 positions.
